SAEDNEWS: The Sang Darka Waterfall in Amol cascades down from the top of the mountain like a silver thread, flowing over a very large rock located on a section of the mountainside.
According to Saednews, Sang Derka Waterfall is one of the natural attractions of Mazandaran Province. This waterfall is located in a village called Sang Derka, which belongs to Amol, and it is therefore named after this village. Sang Derka lies about 25 kilometers southwest of Amol, on the slopes of Mount Vardui, and offers highly scenic views.

This waterfall originates from winter precipitation that accumulates within the mountain. In spring and summer, these stored waters flow downward and feed major rivers such as Angtarud, Gaznasara, and Alash River.

Sang Derka Waterfall is approximately 7 to 12 meters high and cascades beautifully down tall rocky cliffs into a pool below. It is a seasonal waterfall.
It flows during spring and summer, while in colder seasons it freezes completely. If you are familiar with ice climbing, winter visits can offer the experience of seeing a frozen waterfall.
Sang Derka Waterfall is located within a forest area known as Alash River Forest, offering stunning natural landscapes. Visitors can enjoy the scenery, breathe fresh air, and take memorable photographs.
You can also swim in the pool beneath the waterfall or enjoy the clean and pleasant environment.
Nearby attractions include several notable sites such as the Amol Fire Temple and Dasht-e Lar. If you are interested in religious visits, Imamzadeh Abdullah of Amol is also along the route.

Sang Derka Waterfall is located about 25 km southwest of Amol. To reach it, travelers must pass through Amol, enter the Haraz Road, take the exit toward Imamzadeh Abdullah, and continue until reaching Sang Derka village.
From the village, there is a 20-minute drive followed by a 10–15 minute hike to the waterfall. The hiking trail passes through dense forests, tall trees, and lush vegetation, with a stream occasionally crossing the path. The waterfall remains hidden until the final moments of the hike, when it suddenly appears in full grandeur.
Approximate distances:
From Tehran: about 197 km

The best time to visit Sang Derka Waterfall is during spring and autumn.
Spring offers lush greenery, pleasant weather, and powerful water flow due to melting snow. However, it can be crowded.
Autumn provides beautiful foliage in shades of yellow, orange, and red. Although rainfall may make trails muddy, the mild weather and stunning scenery make it ideal.
Summer can be hot and humid, while winter is cold and snowy, making travel more difficult unless you are well-equipped.
