SAEDNEWS: The foreign ministers of Iran and Oman held a phone conversation on Friday to discuss maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi held talks on recent developments in the region, with a focus on maritime security and the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, according to Iran's Foreign Ministry.
During the conversation, both officials emphasized the importance of protecting international shipping routes and explored regional cooperation aimed at reducing tensions, preventing further escalation, and promoting long-term peace, stability, and security.
Oman, which jointly oversees the strategic Strait of Hormuz with Iran, has continued to play an important diplomatic role during the ongoing regional crisis. The two countries have also maintained coordination on transit-related arrangements under the Islamabad ceasefire memorandum.
The discussion comes as military tensions between Iran and the United States remain elevated. In recent weeks, Iran has launched attacks targeting U.S. military bases across the region, while U.S. forces have continued strikes on Iranian territory.
