SAEDNEWS: The public support expressed by Iraq and Kuwait for indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States is being interpreted as a new sign of the region’s shift toward reducing tensions and containing crises.
According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, emphasized the need to intensify efforts to consolidate stability in the region during a meeting held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Citing IRNA and based on a statement from Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides reviewed the latest regional security and political developments. They stressed the importance of increasing efforts to reinforce stability and reduce tensions in a way that strengthens regional security and promotes calm.
The statement added that the meeting also addressed the course of negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Both sides expressed appreciation for Oman’s constructive role in supporting dialogue and bringing viewpoints closer together, emphasizing that these efforts could help enhance opportunities for mutual understanding and stability in the region.
A new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States, following the 12-day war, was held on Friday, February 6, 2026 (17 Bahman 1404), in Muscat, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman. During this round of indirect negotiations, the Iranian and American negotiating delegations exchanged a set of views, considerations, and approaches through Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi.
The 62nd annual Munich Security Conference is scheduled to take place in Germany from February 13 to 15, 2026 (24–26 Bahman).
