SAEDNEWS: Malaysia Prepares ICJ Action Over Alleged Violations Against Gaza-Bound Sumud Aid Flotilla Activists After Evidence Review

Malaysia Prepared to Bring Case Against Israel to International Court of Justice, Official Says

According to Saednews citing Malay Mail, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said legal action will be pursued after the alleged kidnapping and mistreatment of activists involved in the Sumud Aid Flotilla mission, including Malaysian participants.

He stated that the Malaysian government will continue diplomatic efforts to push for the full liberation of Gaza.

“We will not remain silent, we will not stop. While the legal team gathers all documentation on violations of international law, they (GSF participants) were kidnapped more than once, they were tortured,” he said.

“Malaysia will pursue the matter at the international level while also continuing diplomatic efforts and nationwide outreach activities,” he added.

Authorities in Malaysia have indicated readiness to file a complaint against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Although the GSF 2.0 mission has ended, Amirudin emphasized that Malaysia’s and Selangor’s commitment to the Palestinian cause will continue.

Reports state that Israel seized 22 of 58 aid vessels in international waters off Greece’s Peloponnese Peninsula.

According to flotilla organizers, as cited by Al Jazeera, 211 of the 400 activists involved in the humanitarian mission were detained.

Most detainees were later released, except for two individuals: Saif Abu Keshek, a Palestinian activist holding Spanish citizenship, and Brazilian activist Thiago de Avila, who were taken to Israel for questioning.
