SAEDNEWS: You might find it interesting to know that airplanes do not usually have a horn like cars; this idea has mostly been formed in our minds through movies and TV series. But why?
According to SAEDNEWS, Have you ever wondered whether an airplane has a horn or not? And if an airplane does have a horn, where and for what purpose would it be used? To find the answers to these questions, stay with this section.
It is interesting to know that many airplanes have a system similar to a horn, which allows the pilot to alert and inform ground personnel. When the aircraft is on the ground, maintenance engineers use this horn from inside the cockpit to notify their colleagues.
Also, a person outside the aircraft can connect a special headset to the nose wheel well port and communicate with the pilot; however, it should be noted that this system only works while the aircraft is on the ground.

To activate the horn, the pilot must press a switch called “GND”.
The airplane horn cannot be used for overtaking or giving way to other aircraft. This is because all instructions, including ground movement routes and positioning in the queue for takeoff and landing, are determined by the control tower, and pilots never make these decisions independently.
