According to SAEDNEWS, quoting the Young Journalists Club, at a time when flight ticket prices had increased significantly, a man from Kerala built his own private aircraft to travel on holiday with his family. Although the story may seem unbelievable, the idea of building this aircraft came to “Ali Cyril Tamarakshan” during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Ali, who is of Indian origin and resides in the UK, spent 18 months on this ambitious project and spent around 1.8 million rupees. After graduating with a BTech degree in engineering from Palakkad in 2006, he moved to the United Kingdom for his master’s degree. He currently works at Ford Motor Company. Being a licensed pilot, he traveled with his self-built aircraft with his family to Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.

Ali, 38, after learning that Sling Aircraft based in Johannesburg was launching a new aircraft called Sling TSI, visited the factory and ordered a kit to build his own plane. After obtaining his pilot license in 2018, he initially rented small two-seater planes for travel, but after his family grew (with the birth of his two daughters), he needed a four-seater aircraft.

Since four-seater aircraft are limited in number and often old, Ali decided to build his own four-seater private aircraft. He named this aircraft “G-Diya,” inspired by the name of his younger daughter.
