SAEDNEWS: The “Wall House” is a brilliant and striking example of modern and contemporary architecture that draws inspiration from traditional architecture in all its elements. It is a captivating blend that invites you both to walk through and explore, as well as to sit, rest, and reflect.
The “Wall House” architectural project has been built on a 350-square-meter plot in the historic village of Kaj, on the outskirts of Isfahan and near the Zayandeh Rud River. In this village, traces of the past—such as a historic mosque and a fortress from the Ilkhanid era—are still visible.
The Wall House has been designed in harmony with this historical context. Across all its elements and components, it reflects the traditional architecture of Iran’s desert regions—from earth-toned wall finishes to arched vaults, narrow corridors, and stairways leading up to the roof.

At the same time, the spatial design and extensive, thoughtful use of glass introduce a contemporary atmosphere to the building. The house includes three main bedrooms, a sunlit room, a living area, and relatively separate courtyards, which are accessed by passing through walls and corridors. This spatial arrangement creates a sense of adventure and exploration for the residents.

Walking through the outdoor areas, one encounters a variety of spaces—from intimate, secluded corners enclosed between wall angles to more open and expansive green areas. The interior spaces are also filled with light and shadow play, along with natural airflow, thanks to large glass façades and the appropriate use of woven, screen-like coverings.

A sense of calm and contemplation flows throughout the house. It is a place both for walking and sitting, for solitude and reflection, as well as for gathering and conversation.

Across all its spaces, there is a continuous dialogue between past and present. Every element of the house evokes memories of tradition, while its arrangement and contemporary gestures signal a modern and even forward-looking approach.
