Saed News: Many American Republicans are concerned about the midterm elections and are unwilling to support Trump.
According to SAEDNEWS, just a few months after the start of Donald Trump’s second presidency, the first serious and public disagreement between him and congressional Republicans has emerged—revealing signs of growing dissatisfaction within the Republican Party.
According to CNN, many Republicans, worried about the 2026 midterm elections, are no longer willing to fully support Trump’s controversial and personal decisions. Two main issues have intensified tensions between the U.S. president and members of his own party.
The first is Trump’s request to allocate $1.776 billion to a fund described as compensation for “victims of Biden-era politicization of government.” Critics say this budget could include individuals involved in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Congress, a matter that even some Republicans have called “indefensible” and “political suicide.”
The second issue is the request for hundreds of millions of dollars to build or renovate a luxurious ballroom at the White House—a project that some Republican senators consider unnecessary and personally motivated spending.
One Republican senator told CNN: “We no longer want to lose our seats in the next election because of every strange and personal idea of Trump.”
At the same time, Trump’s support for hardline candidates in primary elections, including backing Ken Paxton in Texas against incumbent senators in his party, has angered parts of the Republican Congress and led some of them to publicly voice criticism.
These divisions show that a segment of Republicans is no longer willing to bear the political cost of Trump’s controversial decisions and behavior—especially amid growing concerns about a potential heavy defeat for the party in the 2026 elections.
