Saed News: A Saudi newspaper wrote that developments in Lebanon have raised serious doubts about the international order, and that their danger goes beyond the domestic and regional sphere, targeting the international system itself.
According to SAEDNEWS, the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh, the official media outlet of the Saudi authorities, wrote in a report on developments in Lebanon that what is being witnessed today in southern Lebanon raises serious questions about the future of the international system.
The newspaper noted that the expansion of military movements by the Israeli regime inside Lebanese territory and its control over strategic positions in southern Lebanon cannot be considered “temporary security developments,” but rather a political event connected to the concept of national sovereignty and the right of states to manage their territories without military pressure.
It added that the credibility of states is not measured only by their ability to protect their borders, but also by the extent to which the international community respects those borders and prevents military power from being used to impose new realities.
The newspaper believes that the danger of developments in Lebanon lies in the fact that military aggression between states does not only affect the two sides of the conflict, but also undermines the rules governing international relations. Ignoring state sovereignty opens the door to further crises and weakens confidence in the international legal system, which was created to prevent conflicts and the imposition of will through force.
Al-Riyadh stressed that the Lebanon issue is not merely a domestic or regional matter, but part of a broader international debate about the future of security and stability in a world of increasing challenges and conflicts.
The newspaper added that the consequences of these developments are not limited to the security dimension, but extend to the political sphere related to states’ right to manage their internal affairs without external pressure.
It further stated that any military presence imposed inside another country has profound effects on the domestic political scene and creates additional challenges for national institutions responsible for preserving sovereignty and managing crises.
The newspaper believes that the continuation of military operations places the international community before a responsibility measured by its ability to implement adopted charters and resolutions.
The article emphasized that the current situation questions the international system’s ability to deal with recurring crises in conflict regions around the world, as the security of states should not be achieved through the violation of the sovereignty of other countries.
