According to SAEDNEWS, U.S. officials announced that following a leak of a dangerous chemical from a storage tank at a plastics manufacturing facility for the aerospace industry in the city of Garden Grove in Orange County, California, an evacuation order for about 40,000 people was issued and local schools were also closed.
According to the Orange County Fire Department, a tank containing 6,000 to 7,000 gallons of methyl methacrylate has experienced a temperature increase since Thursday, and its chemical vapors have been released into the air.
Officials have warned that the tank may rupture or explode.
