SAEDNEWS: The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that two oil tankers and a tugboat caught fire overnight after taking an unauthorized route through the Strait of Hormuz. It also claimed that its electronic warfare units captured two Lucas drones intact.
According to Saednews, In a statement released Thursday morning, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) praised the Iranian people for maintaining 250 days of resilience, describing their determination as a new benchmark for awareness and resistance. The force also asserted that its naval units remain firmly in control of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the statement, two separate maritime incidents occurred overnight. A large oil tanker attempting to navigate the unauthorized southern passage of the strait reportedly struck a mine, caught fire, and was forced to stop.
In a separate incident, another supertanker was halted by a major fire while departing along the same route east of the Strait of Hormuz. A tugboat approaching the vessel to assist with firefighting operations also reportedly caught fire.
The IRGC further claimed that its naval electronic warfare units intercepted two unidentified Lucas drones, took control of them, guided them to safe landings, and seized them.
The statement accused the United States of encouraging vessels to disregard maritime restrictions and attempt to cross the mined passage, arguing that the resulting damage would impose substantial insurance costs on American taxpayers and regional allies.
It also claimed that Washington could have avoided significant financial losses and what it described as a humiliating electoral setback by releasing Iran’s frozen assets, which it said amount to less than half of the costs accumulated so far.
The IRGC concluded by warning that further attempts to violate its restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz would result in additional economic costs and greater political setbacks for the United States.
