SAEDNEWS: Yemen’s War Media Unit claimed that a locally manufactured surface-to-air missile shot down a Saudi AH-6i attack helicopter near Najran, releasing footage of the alleged interception after the Saudi-led coalition said the aircraft crashed due to a technical malfunction.
According to Saednews, The Saudi-led coalition’s spokesman, Major General Turki al-Maliki, announced that a military helicopter had crashed in the Najran region, killing everyone on board. He attributed the incident to a technical malfunction.
However, Yemen’s War Media Unit, known as Al-Alam al-Harbi, later released footage that it said showed the helicopter being intercepted around noon Tehran time.
According to the Yemeni unit, the video shows a Saudi AH-6i helicopter being targeted and brought down by a domestically manufactured surface-to-air missile while conducting hostile activities near Najran.
The Najran region has witnessed fighting in recent weeks as clashes between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemeni forces have intensified.
The footage was presented as evidence challenging the Saudi-led coalition’s account that the helicopter crashed due to a technical malfunction.
