Gharibabadi: Iran Is Open to Diplomacy but Prepared to Defend Itself

According to Saednews, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, told Al-Arabi TV that Tehran welcomes all diplomatic efforts while remaining prepared to defend itself. He said Iran is finalizing its response to the US position on the proposal Tehran submitted in New York.

Gharibabadi stated that Iran would announce its final position following consultations through mediators. He emphasized that Tehran remains open to diplomacy, provided the issues being raised are genuine, adding that Iran has consistently welcomed diplomatic engagement with all parties.

He also stressed that Iran’s readiness to defend itself and engage in conflict is no less than its willingness to pursue negotiations.

According to Gharibabadi, Iran’s continued participation in talks reflects its political flexibility and commitment to diplomacy. He said the United States must resume fulfilling its obligations, asserting that Tehran has not breached its commitments, while Washington has failed to honor its obligations under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and must take compensatory measures.

The deputy foreign minister added that Iran cannot be expected to demonstrate greater flexibility while, in Tehran’s view, the United States has completely failed to meet its commitments.
