Lajim Village in Savadkuh: The Hidden Gem of Zirab with a 1,500-Year-Old Tower

According to Saednews, Lajim, known as the “jewel in the ring” of Savadkuh, is a historic village in the Savadkuh region, near Zirab. Located in one of the ancient and culturally rich areas of northern Iran, the village sits at an elevation of approximately 765 meters above sea level at the site of the Lajim Tower. The road from Zirab to the entrance of Lajim, a distance of about 25 kilometers, is now fully paved.

A Journey Through Lajim Village, Savadkuh

Many consider Lajim to be one of the most beautiful villages in Savadkuh. Its location in the historic Savadkuh region, combined with its natural surroundings, gives the village a distinctive charm. During the summer, Lajim’s population can reach around 800 people, while the number decreases throughout the rest of the year, particularly during the colder months and the school season.

Lajim’s geographical position, situated between the Kasilian, Dodangeh, and Chahardangeh areas, has given the village particular importance. With greater attention and development, Lajim could play a significant economic role in the region.

Agriculture and livestock farming are the main occupations of the local residents. The ancient Lajim Tower, with an estimated history of around 1,500 years, is regarded as the shining jewel of the village. Built centuries ago in the heart of a dense forest, far from the bustle of urban life, the historic tower once served as an important stronghold and refuge for one of the local rulers.

Later, Kiya Abu al-Khawaris ibn Shahriyar, a member of the Bavand dynasty, was buried in the tower. More than a thousand years later, Lajim Tower still stands proudly, overlooking the beautiful landscapes of Savadkuh.
