According to SAEDNEWS, reporting from Bandar Abbas, until the recent Nowruz holidays, the silver-colored soils of the Red Beach on Hormuz Island were one of the island’s main tourist attractions. However, now almost nothing of this valuable and beautiful natural material remains in its original environment.

The theft from nature and exploitation of natural resources has taken various forms over the years, including hunting, illegal fishing, environmental destruction, and more recently, soil removal—yet no effective solution has been implemented so far.

Based on on-site observations, the Silver Beach of Hormuz Island has been completely destroyed. Despite the issue spreading across social media, no response has been issued by local authorities, environmental organizations, or other responsible bodies.

Tourism development on Hormuz Island has largely been unsustainable and unregulated, with officials focusing on statistics rather than managing the large influx of visitors to the “rainbow island” of the Persian Gulf, effectively observing the gradual destruction of its natural assets.

Today, nothing remains of the Silver Beach due to the removal of its sands by tourists, which serves as a warning signal for environmental protection advocates and tourism stakeholders.

Meanwhile, awareness campaigns have been launched to prevent the removal of Hormuz Island’s soil, which appear more promising than the lack of supervision by authorities over the island’s environmental degradation.
