Exploring the Charming Village of Kesheh in Natanz, Isfahan

According to the Family Magazine service of Saed News, Keshe is one of the charming villages of Isfahan Province. Located 35 kilometers from Natanz, this village offers a pristine and inviting destination for travelers seeking authentic rural experiences.

Keshe is home to cheerful and lively residents, with a population of around 700 people. The village is divided by the beautiful Keshe River, which flows with clear, cool water, creating two distinct sections: the lower and upper parts. Visitors exploring Keshe should plan to divide their time between these two areas.

Most residential homes are concentrated in the lower section, while the upper area is filled with orchards and farmland. Keshe comprises 19 neighborhoods, including Khak Sefid, Hanouyeh, Darb Hosseiniyeh, Darb Garage, Baghla, Pariyar, Vartakhteh, Asbar, Pakmar, Mahieh, Roy Qaleh, Darb Hammam, Allah Abad, Gohar, Karbalaei Ali, Bagh Nareh, Marchoon, Lajeh, and Sarcheshmeh.

Thanks to its numerous mosques, Keshe is often referred to as the “village of mosques.” A must-visit spot is the Rayan Tourism and Recreation Village—a large, modern complex with an artificial lake, offering a relaxing getaway for visitors. Perched at an altitude of 2,500 meters on the slopes of the Karkas Mountains, the village provides breathtaking views of historic Keshe and the natural landscapes along the Torq River. Recognized as a model tourist area in Isfahan Province, it was officially approved by the government on September 13, 2007.

The Karkas Mountain peaks reach 3,895 meters, ranking among the country’s highest. Hikers frequently set out from the village to climb the summit, which is snow-covered for nearly half the year and serves as a vital water source for the region’s many springs. The mountain slopes benefit from abundant water, moderate climate, and diverse plant life, making them valuable pasturelands both locally and nationally.

Vegetation in the area mainly consists of shrubs, various cereals, medicinal plants, and scattered trees, supporting a diverse wildlife population thanks to the region’s unique geographic and ecological conditions.

The Name “Keshe”

Interestingly, the name Keshe (pronounced “Cacher” in French) means “hidden.” While the village’s origin story differs, it truly is nestled and concealed within the Karkas Mountains. Historical records describe Keshe as a village in Torq River District of Natanz, with water sourced from two qanats and nearby Yahya Abad. In local Tabari language, “Keshe” also means “embrace” or “hug,” a poetic reflection of the village’s welcoming nature.

Religious and Cultural Sites

Keshe hosts several significant religious sites, including Imam Hasan Mojtaba Mosque, Valiasr Mosque, and the beautifully serene Hazrat Zahra Mosque, as well as an old Hosseiniyeh. Traditional customs, such as carrying the “Alam” on Tasu’a and raising the “Nakhl” on Ashura, remain integral to the village’s spiritual life and attract participation from both locals and visitors.

The flowing river that runs through Keshe enhances its natural beauty, making it a captivating destination for those seeking both cultural heritage and scenic tranquility.

For those looking for an authentic rural experience with a touch of adventure, Keshe Village is a destination that promises charm, history, and natural splendor.
