SAEDNEWS: A woman in New Zealand listed her husband for sale on the auction site Trade Me after he went on a fishing trip without notice, leaving her alone with their two school-aged children.
According to Saed News, citing Beitoote, Linda McAllister described her husband, John, as a 37-year-old man, about 185 cm tall, and a cattle farmer. She wrote on the website that John has had previous owners, but if he is well-fed and given enough water, he can remain loyal to his owner.

Living with her family in the outskirts of Rangitikei, New Zealand, Linda said her husband’s recent fishing trip was not “unusual behavior.” John has a particular fondness for fishing and shooting, but the timing of this trip was difficult for her because their children attend school. This made managing the children in John’s absence challenging, as they stayed up late and drove her crazy.
Linda added: “He was sure he would earn some money and wanted to watch this listing to see if the theory would come true.” Linda and John married in 2019 in Ireland, Linda’s home country, and later moved to Waikato. They have two sons, aged four and six.

Although John’s father has Irish roots, Linda says she and her husband don’t share many similarities. She hopes, however, that the Irish sense of humor will make John find the auction listing amusing. John reportedly heard about being “for sale” from friends and laughed at the idea.
The husband-for-sale listing received 12 purchase requests, and the price briefly rose to $100 before the website Trade Me removed it after a few hours. Some bidders expressed interest in marrying John, while others proposed swapping him with their current husband.

In her auction description, Linda wrote: “He is extremely interested in long conversations about pastures and weather, usually on Friday evenings, with a special focus on enjoying a drink.”
Further details from Linda included: “Highly efficient and useful. Hard to catch, but he packs himself and travels well. He makes much less noise if he drives himself. He may be stressed in a new environment but handles calming himself very well. Reselling him is difficult. Full sale and return or exchange are impossible. Free delivery may be available in surrounding areas.”
