SAEDNEWS: Homemade chicken nuggets are healthier than restaurant-style nuggets. For an even better option, try making baked chicken nuggets, as they require little to no oil and are a much healthier choice.
According to Saednews, Making chicken nuggets at home in the oven is easy, healthier, and even more delicious than restaurant-style nuggets. With the right spices and by carefully following the steps below, you can prepare crispy, flavorful chicken nuggets for the whole family.
Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
Chicken breast | 500 g |
Breadcrumbs | 1½ cups |
Olive oil | 2 tablespoons |
Eggs | 2 |
Paprika | 1 teaspoon |
Salt and black pepper | As needed |
Garlic powder | 1 teaspoon |
Red pepper flakes or chili powder | ¼ teaspoon |
Dried thyme | 1 teaspoon |
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
Take an 18 × 13-inch baking sheet, place a wire baking rack on top, and lightly coat the rack with cooking spray.

Spread the breadcrumbs over the baking sheet. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and mix thoroughly with your fingers so the oil is evenly distributed throughout the breadcrumbs.
Spread the breadcrumbs evenly across the baking sheet and place them in the oven for a few minutes, until they turn a light golden-brown color. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
Remove the breadcrumbs from the oven and gather them together with a spoon. Add all the spices and mix well until the breadcrumbs are evenly seasoned.

Crack the eggs into a separate bowl. Add a little salt and black pepper, then whisk well.
Dip each piece of chicken breast into the beaten egg, then coat it thoroughly with the seasoned breadcrumbs.
Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared wire rack, leaving some space between each piece so they cook evenly.

Place the tray in the preheated oven. Cook the nuggets at 165°F (74°C) until the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature. For practical oven cooking, use the oven's normal baking temperature rather than 165°F, as 165°F is the recommended internal temperature for cooked chicken.
Once fully cooked and crispy, serve the homemade chicken nuggets with your favorite dipping sauce.

Preparation time: Approximately 30 minutes
Cooking time: Approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken pieces
Servings: 4 people
Best for: Lunch or dinner
They can also be served as part of suhoor or iftar during Ramadan.
For the crispiest result, cut the chicken into evenly sized pieces and avoid overcrowding the baking rack.
