According to Saednews, Pumpkin potage is a popular and nutritious soup that is especially comforting during the colder months. Pumpkin is an autumn and winter vegetable known for its naturally sweet flavor and impressive nutritional value. It is widely used in both traditional and modern dishes.
Besides its delicious taste, pumpkin is rich in vitamins and minerals that support a healthy diet. With its smooth and creamy texture, pumpkin potage can be served as an appetizer, a light meal, or a comforting main course.
500–600 g pumpkin, peeled and cut into small pieces
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium carrot, chopped
1 small potato, chopped
1 garlic clove, finely minced
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 cups chicken stock or hot water
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
2–3 tablespoons cream

Before starting, prepare all the ingredients. Peel the pumpkin and cut it into small pieces. Finely chop the onion, carrot, and potato. Mince the garlic so that its aroma can blend well into the soup.
Heat the vegetable oil and butter in a suitable pot over medium-low heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes soft and lightly golden.
Add the minced garlic and continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes, just until fragrant.
Add the chopped carrot and potato to the pot. Sauté the vegetables for another 3–4 minutes. This helps develop their flavor and gives the soup a richer taste.
Add the pumpkin pieces to the sautéed vegetables and cook for approximately 5 more minutes. Lightly sautéing the pumpkin helps soften it and enhances its natural sweetness.
Pour the chicken stock or hot water into the pot. Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat, cover the pot partially, and allow the vegetables to simmer gently until completely tender. This usually takes about 20–30 minutes.

Once all the vegetables are thoroughly cooked, remove the pot from the heat. Using an immersion blender or regular blender, blend the soup until smooth and creamy.
If the soup is too thick, add a little hot water or additional stock until it reaches your preferred consistency.
Return the blended soup to the pot and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Stir in the cream and mix well. Warm the soup gently for a few minutes without bringing it to a vigorous boil.
Pour the pumpkin potage into serving bowls and garnish with a small amount of cream if desired.
Serve warm for a smooth, creamy, and comforting pumpkin soup.
