SaedNews: In one of the largest public demonstrations of support for Palestine in Europe, Italy was paralyzed by a nationwide strike across more than 75 cities. Millions of people took to the streets, ports were blocked, and the shipment of weapons to Israel was halted.
According to SAEDNEWS, the people of Italy, with massive and powerful participation in the streets of Milan, Naples, Florence, and Turin, once again showed that the voice of Europe’s awakened conscience against the atrocities in Gaza has not been silenced. The nationwide strike, which completely stopped transportation, schools, ports, and logistics for 24 hours, was accompanied by clashes between protesters and police, and images of tear gas in Milan showed the intensity of public anger.
Port workers, by blocking the shipment of weapons to Israel, took direct action in support of Palestine. This massive public movement emerged in response to Prime Minister Meloni’s refusal to recognize the State of Palestine. Protesters have put forward four main demands: immediate recognition of Palestine, a complete halt to arms sales to Israel, sanctions against Netanyahu’s government, and an end to the genocide in Gaza. This event is considered one of the strongest signs of a shift in public opinion in Europe against pro-Israel policies.
