SAEDNEWS: U.S. Central Command Deploys Ships and Aircraft for Commercial Transit Operations in Strait of Hormuz

New U.S. Military Operation in Strait of Hormuz Draws Attention; CENTCOM Issues Statement

According to Saed News Agency’s Political Service, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), in response to Donald Trump’s plan regarding the passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, announced in a statement that it will begin supporting the “Freedom Project” from Monday to restore freedom of navigation for commercial ships through the strait.

According to Fars News Agency, the statement said that U.S. forces, on the orders of the President, will take action to support commercial vessels seeking free passage through the area.

CENTCOM claimed that this defensive mission is vital and essential for regional security and the global economy.

The statement further noted that last week, the U.S. State Department announced a new initiative in cooperation with the Department of Defense to strengthen coordination and information sharing among international partners in support of maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.

The so-called “Maritime Freedom Structure” is designed to combine diplomatic action with military coordination and will play a key role during the implementation of the “Freedom Project.”

CENTCOM also claimed that U.S. military support for the project will include guided-missile destroyers, more than 100 aircraft operating from land and sea, multi-purpose unmanned platforms (drones and unmanned vessels), and 15,000 military personnel.

Earlier, the U.S. President stated that a “humanitarian operation,” as he described it, would begin on Monday morning to ensure the safe passage of ships not involved in tensions in the Middle East. He claimed that, for the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, countries have been told that their vessels will be safely escorted through restricted waterways so they can continue their business freely.
