According to the political desk of Saed News, citing the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA), a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy provided explanations during a televised program regarding the “smart blockade” of the Strait of Hormuz.

He stated that under the smart blockade plan, the laws of the Islamic Republic determine which countries are permitted to pass through the Strait. Vessels belonging to countries that are granted permission may transit the Strait of Hormuz, while ships from countries that are denied permission are not allowed to pass.

The senior IRGC Navy commander added that on the second day of the war, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed he had destroyed Iran’s navy and encouraged several ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. However, he said that Iranian forces struck the violating vessels. He noted that after the fourth day, maritime traffic effectively stopped. On that fourth day, two ships requested permission from Iran to pass through the Strait, and permission was granted because they belonged to countries considered friendly to Iran.

He emphasized that today Iran determines who is allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and who is not. According to him, by the third day the situation had stabilized and no country attempted transit. During the first two days, Iran had announced its policy and targeted two violating oil tankers.

The commander further stated that the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel—regardless of the flag their ships carry—are on Iran’s blacklist and are not permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Continuing his remarks, he said that more than ten enemy ships and oil tankers have so far been struck. He also claimed that a U.S. Navy support vessel moving from the northern Indian Ocean toward the Sea of Oman was targeted in the northern Indian Ocean and rendered non-operational. After this incident was confirmed, he said, the USS Abraham Lincoln withdrew. According to the commander, there are currently no other military warships in the region, and no U.S. naval vessels remain within less than 800 miles of Iranian waters.
