Trial of a Young Suitor on Charges of Killing His Beloved’s Brother

According to SAEDNEWS, a young suitor who had killed the brother of his beloved girl during a bloody conflict in Shahriar appeared before the Tehran Provincial Criminal Court and stated that the killing occurred in self-defense.

Two years ago, police were informed of a deadly fight in Shahriar. After arriving at the scene and conducting initial investigations, it was determined that a young man named Amir had died due to a stab wound, and the suspect in the case was another young man named Mohsen, who was arrested after the incident.

During initial investigations, the victim’s brother said: “For years our family had close relations with Mohsen’s family, but later we found out he was secretly in contact with our sister. From that moment, disputes began, and on the day of the incident, a fight broke out between my brother and Mohsen, which ended in my brother being killed by a knife stab.”

After his arrest, Mohsen presented a different version of events during interrogation: “I grew up with Amir and his brother, and we had family relations. I was in love with the victim’s sister and intended to marry her, but when her brothers found out, they opposed it and even beat me once in the street.”

Regarding the day of the incident, he said: “Amir called me and told me to come to their house to talk. When I arrived, he attacked me with a blade. I also used a knife in self-defense and struck him. I did not intend to kill him.”

After completing investigations and issuing the indictment, the case was sent to Branch 12 of the Tehran Provincial Criminal Court.

During the trial session, the victim’s family demanded retaliation (qisas). The defendant again repeated his previous statements, saying: “I and Amir’s sister intended to marry, but her family, especially her brothers, opposed it and had repeatedly threatened me. On the day of the incident, if I had not defended myself, they would have harmed me.”

At the end of the session, the judges retired to issue their verdict.
