Saed News: In mid-February last year, a middle-aged man went to the police and reported that his son had gone missing.

A Love Duel That Ended in Murder / Arash: I Was in Love with Parasto, I Set Saman on Fire

According to SAEDNEWS, citing Iran Newspaper, Saman had left home for work as usual the previous day, but never returned. His father said: “I thought something might have come up, so I waited until today. But now I’m very worried and fear something may have happened to him.”

Following the complaint, and by order of the homicide prosecutor, a team of detectives from the Fourth Department of the Criminal Investigation Police in the capital launched an investigation. They found that Saman had previously been engaged to a young woman named Parasto, but the engagement had ended due to personal differences. Investigators quickly questioned the woman, but her statements did not lead to any results, as she claimed they had broken up due to conflicts and she had no further contact with him.

As the search for Saman continued, detectives discovered that the last person he had been in contact with was a man named Arash, a ride-hailing driver, who was immediately arrested.

During initial questioning, Arash said: “I am a ride-hailing driver, and Saman was my passenger, but I don’t know what happened to him.”

Despite his claims, further investigation revealed that Arash had been in a relationship with Parasto, Saman’s former fiancée, and had even proposed marriage to her. Considering this as a possible motive, detectives interrogated him again.

A Fiery Crime
Confronted with evidence, Arash eventually confessed to the murder and said: “A few months ago, I met Parasto when she requested a ride from her university. During the trip, we talked and I gradually became interested in her. Later, I contacted her and proposed marriage. She told me she had previously been engaged to a distant relative but had ended the engagement due to differences. However, her former fiancé kept bothering her and wanted to reconcile.”

He added: “I was in love with Parasto, and when I learned about the harassment, I decided to contact her former fiancé and meet him in person. On the day of the incident, Parasto and I met Saman and picked him up in the car. Then I drove toward the Saveh road and stopped in a secluded area.”

“I asked Parasto to stay inside the car while I got out with Saman. I told him to stay out of our lives and stop bothering her. But he refused, and we got into an argument. I stabbed him with a knife. When he fell to the ground, I set the body on fire. I didn’t intend to kill him, but when I saw he was lifeless, I decided to burn the body to hide the crime. During all this time, Parasto was inside the car, and I had locked the doors so she couldn’t get out.”

Threats After the Crime
Following Arash’s confession, the young woman was also arrested. She confirmed parts of the story and said: “I never thought that meeting would end in Saman’s death. When Arash committed the murder, I was inside the car, hitting the windows and calling for help, but there was no one around.”

She added: “After the murder, Arash threatened to kill me if I said anything. He even said killing me and my family would be easy for him. Out of fear for my life and my family, I stayed silent, but I felt guilty.”

Following the confessions, detectives were sent to the location where the body had been burned to recover the remains. The investigation is ongoing.
