Saed News: The actor from the film Dances with Wolves has been sentenced to life imprisonment on sexual offense charges.
According to SAEDNEWS, citing Associated Press via Hamshahri, Nathan Chasing Horse—known for his role in Dances with Wolves and other projects—has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison after being accused of multiple counts of sexual assault against Indigenous women and girls.
Chasing Horse, 49, whose full name is Nathan Lee Chasing Horse, was described in court documents as having become a cult-like leader. He was accused of abusing Indigenous girls over a span of two decades. He was arrested at his home in 2023.
According to reports, plaintiffs and their families told a court in Las Vegas that Chasing Horse had abused his position as a spiritual leader. He continues to deny the allegations. He will be eligible for parole in 2063. He also faces additional charges in British Columbia and has an outstanding arrest warrant in Alberta.
Chasing Horse portrayed a member of the Sioux tribe in the 1990 epic Dances with Wolves, which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture. He also appeared in three episodes of the acclaimed 2005 miniseries Into the West as “Sleeping Bear.” His other acting credits include the television film The Broken Chain and the 2003 feature film Dreamkeeper.
