Trump Nominates American Billionaire for NASA Chief

According to SaedNews, President Donald Trump announced on social media on December 4th that Jared Isaacman, founder and CEO of Shift4 Payments, has been selected as the next candidate for NASA Administrator.

Isaacman has spaceflight experience, having financed and commanded two pioneering private missions to Earth's orbit, both flown with SpaceX hardware.

Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform: "Jared will lead NASA's exploratory and inspirational mission, paving the way for groundbreaking achievements in science, technology, and space exploration. Jared's passion for space, astronaut experience, and dedication to advancing the frontiers of exploration, uncovering the universe's secrets, and unlocking the new space economy make him a suitable candidate to lead NASA into a bold new era."

Isaacman wrote on his X account: "I am honored to be nominated by President Trump as the next NASA Administrator. I was fortunate to see our amazing planet from space and am eager for America to lead the most incredible adventure in human history."

Isaacman, 41, is a skilled pilot who founded an aerobatic team and Draken International in Florida, which trains U.S. military pilots. He also has experience piloting vehicles in the final frontier. This billionaire organized and commanded the first civilian orbital spaceflight, known as Inspiration4, a four-person mission that orbited Earth for three days in September 2021.

Isaacman did the same for the Polaris Dawn mission, a five-day mission that flew last September. Polaris Dawn flew farther from Earth than any other manned flight since the Apollo missions and showcased the first private spacewalk.

Isaacman plans to return to space. Polaris Dawn is the first of three planned missions in the Polaris program. Program officials have stated that the third flight in this series will be the first manned mission of SpaceX's Starship super rocket.
