SAEDNEWS: Yemeni sources reported that Yemen launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes targeting sites in Saudi Arabia. No official details on the damage or casualties have been confirmed.
According to Saednews, quoting Tasnim Reports emerging early Saturday claimed that Yemen launched a series of missile and drone attacks targeting multiple locations across Saudi Arabia.
According to reports shared by the Telegram channel Al-Yamannet, the strikes marked the second major attack within a matter of hours. The outlet stated that Yemeni forces carried out a coordinated operation involving ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles, and drones, adding that military operations were still ongoing.
Media reports indicated that several explosions were heard in the southwestern Saudi city of Jizan, with some sources claiming that more than five blasts shook the area. Smoke was seen rising over parts of the city, while power outages were reportedly experienced in several neighborhoods.
Additional reports described explosions in the Saudi port city of Yanbu, the city of Dhamad, and near the Khamis Mushait Air Base in southern Saudi Arabia.
Arab media outlets also reported that missiles struck the Hay Al-Matar area near King Abdullah Airport. Following the attacks, Jeddah Airport was said to have suspended flight operations, while flight-tracking services reported disruptions and difficulties for several aircraft attempting to land at airports in southern Saudi Arabia.
Saudi authorities reportedly instructed residents not to photograph or share images of sensitive locations following the incidents.
Yemeni sources described the scale of the strikes as comparable to previous large-scale regional missile attacks, emphasizing the intensity of the operation.
According to Yemeni officials, the strikes were launched in response to Saudi military operations targeting facilities in the western Yemeni port city of Al-Hudaydah and Kamran Island. Yemeni air defense units claimed they forced Saudi aircraft to withdraw from Yemeni airspace during the confrontation.
Yemen's Foreign Ministry condemned the Saudi operations, warning that Riyadh would be responsible for any resulting consequences. The ministry stated that instead of addressing Sana'a's demands to lift the blockade on Yemen, Saudi Arabia had chosen further military escalation.
Officials also declared that the recent developments would change the nature of the conflict, describing the next phase as one of "escalation for escalation."
Hazem al-Assad, a senior member of the Political Bureau of Yemen's Ansarullah movement, warned that any further military action would be met with stronger retaliation, stating that attacks on ports or airports would receive a corresponding response.
Earlier in the week, Yemen's Armed Forces had announced they would continue naval operations targeting Saudi interests in the Red Sea, maintaining what they described as a policy of "siege for a siege" following operations against two Saudi oil tankers.
