SAEDNEWS: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Tuesday proposed restoring communication channels with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), according to multiple local media.
According to Xinhua, the president—who also serves as the council’s chairman—emphasized his commitment to pursuing a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula while formally ending the peninsula’s state of war.
Technically, the Korean Peninsula remains in a state of war, as the 1950–53 Korean War concluded with an armistice rather than a peace treaty.
