SAEDNEWS: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has met with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Ryabkov, to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
According to Saednews, Khatibzadeh, who heads the Center for Political and International Studies at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, held talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov during his visit to Moscow on Wednesday.
The two diplomats exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and cooperation between Moscow and Tehran in international arenas, including the current situation in West Asia, amid escalating tensions over US-Israeli military actions across the region.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website, the meeting was held in a friendly, constructive, and trust-based atmosphere. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Treaty.
Iran and Russia are strategic partners and regularly hold consultations on a wide range of issues. Their cooperation has expanded following the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in January 2025.
The agreement entered into force in October 2025, providing a framework for further cooperation between Tehran and Moscow across various political, economic, and international areas.
