The area was once beneath sea level, and as the sea receded over time, the lush mountain and plain of Talesh emerged. Gradually, people migrated from the mountains to the plains. One of Shakardasht’s main attractions is its proximity to the forest. Its scattered cottages, poppy fields, and pristine nature all add to its charm.

Part of the plain is located in Larijan District of Amol County, and the rest lies within the Lavasanat area of Shemiranat.
