The deepest point in the world is in Japan.
The deepest part of the Earth is located beneath the Pacific Ocean, toward the southeast of Japan and near the Mariana Islands. In this area, there is a crescent-shaped deep trench known as the Mariana Trench. Near the tip of this arc, there is a small groove-like depression that is considered the deepest point on Earth, called the Challenger Deep.
Because a British ship named Challenger decided to measure its depth, this point was named the “Challenger Deep.” The Challenger Deep region lies 10 kilometers below sea level, making it the deepest place in the world. In other words, not only could the deepest point easily contain the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest, but you would need to go about one and a half kilometers deeper than the height of Everest below the Earth’s surface to reach this point.
