SAEDNEWS: Pink pickles, also known as fancy pickles, are among the most popular homemade pickles, thanks to their appealing, natural beetroot color. This article shares how to make these delicious pickles while following essential tips for the best results.
According to Saednews, Pink pickles are a type of homemade pickle made using beetroot to create a beautiful, natural pink color. In this method, beetroot peels and slices are placed between the cucumbers. During the pickling process, the beetroot gradually transfers its color to the cucumbers, giving them a soft pink shade. This color is completely natural, so there is no need for artificial food coloring.
The appeal of these decorative pink pickles goes beyond their attractive appearance. The combination of cucumbers, beetroot, fresh dill, garlic, and grape vinegar creates a delicious and well-balanced flavor. They are a lovely addition to party tables, make a thoughtful homemade gift, and are equally enjoyable as an everyday side dish.

To prepare naturally pink pickles at home, you will need:
3 kg small cucumbers
1 medium-sized beetroot
1 bunch fresh dill
6 garlic cloves
500 ml grape vinegar
3 tablespoons salt
500 ml cold water
These quantities are suitable for one large jar or several medium-sized jars. For the best results, choose fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure delicious and long-lasting pickles.
Before getting started, keep a few important points in mind. First, choose small, firm cucumbers without bruises, cuts, or soft spots. Large or hollow cucumbers are not suitable for pickling.
Second, wash all the ingredients thoroughly, especially the cucumbers and fresh dill, and make sure they are completely dry. Excess moisture can affect the quality of the pickles.
The glass jar must also be thoroughly clean and dry. Before using it, wash it with warm water and dish soap, then allow it to dry in a clean environment. Avoid using metal utensils to stir or remove the pickles. A clean wooden or plastic spoon is a better choice.
First, wash the beetroot thoroughly and dry it. Using a sharp knife, peel the beetroot and set the peel aside. Then cut the beetroot into thin slices.
The beetroot peel plays an important role in giving the pickles their natural pink color, so make sure you do not throw it away.
Choose a suitable, clean glass jar. Start by placing the beetroot peels at the bottom of the jar.
Next, arrange the washed and completely dried cucumbers inside the jar, on top of the beetroot peels. As you layer the cucumbers, place the beetroot slices between them. This helps distribute the pink color more evenly throughout the pickles.
Once the cucumbers and beetroot are arranged, add the peeled garlic cloves to the jar.
Finally, place the fresh dill, which should have been washed and thoroughly dried beforehand, on top of the cucumbers. Make sure the dill is not wet, as excess moisture can affect the quality of the pickles.

In a clean bowl, combine the salt with 500 ml of cold water and stir until the salt has completely dissolved.
Pour the mixture into the jar. Then add 500 ml of grape vinegar.
If the jar is not completely filled, add a little more cold water until the liquid fully covers the cucumbers.
It is very important to keep all the cucumbers completely submerged in the liquid. Otherwise, the exposed portions may come into contact with air, which can affect the quality of the pickles.
Close the jar tightly and place it in the refrigerator or another cool location for 15 days to allow the pickles to develop their flavor and color.
During this time, the natural pink pigment from the beetroot gradually transfers to the cucumbers, while all the ingredients blend together to create a delicious flavor.
After 15 days, your homemade pink pickles are ready to enjoy!
Enjoy your homemade pink pickles!
