Restaurant Chefs’ Trick for Frying Fish to Perfection

According to Saednews, Cooking or frying fish is not particularly difficult. However, if you have ever wondered why restaurant-style fish often tastes different from fish prepared at home, the answer is usually a few simple preparation and cooking techniques.

These easy tips can make a noticeable difference whether you fry the fish, bake it, or cook it in an air fryer.

1. Massage the Fish With Salt

Make a small opening along the belly of the fish with a sharp knife and wash it thoroughly. Add a generous amount of salt and gently massage the fish for about 10 minutes. Afterward, rinse it well to remove the excess salt from the surface.

2. Season the Fish Properly

A combination of spices can give fish a delicious flavor. Useful seasonings include coriander powder, ginger powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper.

You can also season the fish with black pepper, red pepper, paprika, fresh lemon juice, and brewed saffron. Massage the mixture into the fish for about 5 minutes so the flavors are absorbed. The amount of saffron can be adjusted according to your preference.

3. Add Garlic and Onion

Garlic adds excellent flavor to fish. Thinly slice garlic and onion and place them around or over the fish. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or a lid and allow the flavors to infuse into the fish.

4. Allow Enough Time for Marinating

For the best flavor, season and marinate the fish several hours before cooking. Marinating is an important step because it gives the fish enough time to absorb the spices, lemon, saffron, and other seasonings.

5. Use Breadcrumbs for Crispy Fish

If you are making breaded fish, breadcrumbs are the best option for creating a crisp coating. If breadcrumbs are unavailable, you can use dried toast or bread mixed with your preferred spices.

Coat the prepared fish evenly with the breadcrumbs before frying.

6. Fry the Fish in a Pan

Add the required amount of oil to a frying pan and heat it thoroughly. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the fish in the pan.

Allow one side to cook and become golden before carefully turning the fish over. Continue cooking until the other side is also golden and fully cooked.

7. Bake the Fish in the Oven

For oven-baked fish, cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place the prepared fish on the tray.

Bake at 190°C (374°F) for approximately 20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.

8. Cook the Fish in an Air Fryer

After marinating the fish, place it on the air fryer rack. Brush a little brewed saffron over the fish for additional flavor and color.

Set the air fryer to 175°C (347°F) for about 20 minutes. When cooking is complete, the fish should have a golden, slightly crisp exterior while remaining tender and fully cooked inside.

9. How to Serve Fried Fish

Fried fish can be served with several types of Persian rice, including Sabzi Polo (herbed rice), Baghali Polo (dill and fava bean rice), or plain steamed rice.

For an attractive presentation, serve the fish with red cabbage pickles, bitter orange or fresh citrus, sliced onion, and fresh parsley.
