SAEDNEWS: Making canned tuna at home is not only cost-effective, but also allows you to adjust its taste and quality to your preference. Read the instructions for preparing homemade canned tuna in the article below.
According to Saednews, Tuna is one of the most popular ready-to-eat foods, as it can be prepared simply by boiling for about 20 minutes. This makes it ideal for people who do not have much time for cooking. Tuna is made from hoover tuna, one of the famous fish found in the southern waters of the Persian Gulf. Given the rising price of canned tuna, making it at home can be more economical. In this section, you will learn how to prepare homemade tuna in three different combined flavours so you can enjoy this delicious dish.
Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
Hoover tuna fish | 750 g |
Lemon | 1 |
Olive oil | as needed |
Bell pepper | 1 |
Vegetable oil | as needed |
Pitted olives | 10 |
Onions | 2 |
Garlic | 1 bulb |
Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, coriander powder, onion powder | as needed |
First, place three clean and washed glass jars in boiling water for about 5 minutes to sterilize them.
Cut the boneless tuna into fillets and divide them evenly among the three jars.
Peel the onions and slice them into rings. Cut the lemon in half, remove the seeds, and slice it into rounds of your desired thickness.
Cut the bell pepper in half, remove the seeds, and chop it into strips or small cubes.
Peel the garlic cloves and slice or chop them as preferred.
In a separate bowl, mix olive oil, vegetable oil, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Pour this mixture into the jars so that the oil fully covers the ingredients.
Fill a large pot with water. The water level should reach close to the tops of the jars once they are placed inside.
Place the pot over low heat and let it gently simmer for about 2 hours. The water should only lightly bubble and must not boil vigorously.
Remove the pot from heat and allow the jars to cool slowly.
Once completely cooled, store the jars in the refrigerator.
Your homemade tuna is now ready to serve and enjoy.

Always use hoover tuna fillets for better quality and taste.
If the jars are tightly sealed and airtight, homemade tuna can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
Tuna pieces should not be too large or too small to maintain texture during cooking.
After opening a jar, consume the tuna within 2 days while it is still fresh.
Make sure the jars are completely filled with no empty space at the top.
Always use glass jars to preserve flavor and maintain food safety.
Keep the heat very low during cooking to ensure gentle simmering.
