SAEDNEWS: The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that the decision to close the Strait of Hormuz rests with the country’s senior leadership. “As a soldier, I say we are ready to act whenever our leaders decide,” he stated.
According to the political section of SaedNews, the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted an exercise in which it practiced striking targets in the Strait of Hormuz using missiles launched from within Iran. The commander of the IRGC Navy stated, “The decision to close the Strait of Hormuz rests with the senior leaders of the system. As a soldier, I say we are ready to act whenever our leaders give the order.”
The second phase of the “Intelligent Control of the Strait of Hormuz” exercise was held to ensure the security and safe navigation of shipping, involving IRGC combat units and rapid-response naval forces.
Various defensive and offensive systems were deployed during the drill, which, according to military experts present, successfully destroyed designated targets with high precision. Fast missile-launching naval units also carried out missile engagements, striking targets in the Strait of Hormuz from Iran’s interior, coasts, and islands in the Persian Gulf.
A notable feature of the exercise was the use of the latest tactics and newly integrated naval weaponry, which cannot be further disclosed due to security reasons. Drone units also participated, employing both attack and reconnaissance UAVs to practice signal-jamming operations and accurately hit fixed and moving targets. For safety reasons, navigation in the Strait of Hormuz was temporarily restricted during parts of the exercise.
Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the IRGC Navy, who oversaw the main segment of the drill in the Strait of Hormuz, reiterated regarding the potential closure of the strait: “The decision lies with the senior leaders. As a soldier, I say we are ready to act whenever our leaders command it.”
He emphasized that the weapons used in wartime would differ significantly from those displayed in the exercise.
According to Tasnim News, navigation in the Strait of Hormuz was temporarily prohibited during the drill, and as Admiral Tangsiri noted, vessels remained behind the strait until clearance was given.
