SAEDNEWS: The communication channel between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff has been kept open, Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei said.

Iran-US Contact Channel Remains Open: Spokesman

According to SAEDNEWS: Baqaei told reporters at a presser on Monday that messages between Iran and the US would be exchanged through the communication channel whenever necessary.

He stressed that Iran has never left the negotiating table and has always remained committed to the principles of diplomacy.

Iran favors negotiations that are meaningful, not one-sided, the spokesman said, noting that the US’ contradictory messages and statements would cause obscurity in the approaches.

“Contradictory messages (from the US) would only indicate lack of seriousness and goodwill and are not helpful,” he added.

Asked if the Omani foreign minister delivered any messages from the US during his recent visit to Tehran, Baqaei said the bilateral issues as well as regional peace and stability were discussed in the trip, while ideas were exchanged on other topics as well.
