SAEDNEWS: Iran’s president and Majlis (Parliament) speaker have congratulated Mohammad Hadi Saravi and Mobina Nematzadeh for respectively snatching a wrestling gold and a taekwondo bronze for the country at Paris Olympics.
According to SAEDNEWS, On Wednesday, prominent Iranian leaders Masoud Pezeshkian and Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf took to the X social media platform to share their heartfelt congratulations following the remarkable victories of Iranian athletes.
Masoud Pezeshkian commended Saravi for his achievement, stating, “Your gold medal bears the color of hope for the people of the country.” He also expressed profound pride in taekwondo athlete Mobina Nematzadeh as well as all Iranian women athletes, highlighting their contributions to sports and national pride.
Meanwhile, Qalibaf praised Saravi’s victory, noting that he had “enlightened the heart of the nation” with his outstanding performance. He, too, expressed admiration for Nematzadeh’s accomplishment.
Saravi clinched the gold medal in the Greco-Roman 97kg category by defeating the formidable Armenian opponent Artur Aleksanyan, a former Olympic and world champion. Overcoming an initial 0-1 setback, Saravi showcased his skills and determination, ultimately securing a 4-1 victory in what was a tough match.
On the other hand, Mobina Nematzadeh earned a bronze medal in the 49-kg category, triumphing over Saudi Arabia's Dunya Abutaleb with a score of 2-0. This accomplishment makes her only the second Iranian woman to win an Olympic medal in history, a significant milestone that resonates deeply with her compatriots.
