SAEDNEWS: The Iranian short animation "In the Shadow of the Cypress," created by Hossein Molayemi and Shirin Sohani, has proudly secured an award at the 28th LA Shorts International Film Festival, held in Los Angeles, California, from July 17 to 28.
According to SAEDNEWS, The Iranian animated film "In the Shadow of the Cypress" proudly clinched the Best Animation Award at the event's closing ceremony, as reported by IRNA on Saturday.
This remarkable achievement not only highlights the film's excellence but also qualifies it for the next round of the Oscars. It had already been submitted in the short animation category after garnering top honors from two other esteemed festivals.
Co-produced by the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), this 20-minute animation tells the poignant story of an ex-captain grappling with post-traumatic stress disorder while living with his daughter in a quaint seaside home. Together, they navigate the challenges of life, only to have their world transformed by an unexpected event.
The LA Shorts International Film Festival is recognized as one of the most prestigious and largest international short film festivals globally. It is accredited by notable organizations such as the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences (OSCARS), the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television (ACCT), the Canadian Screen Awards, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain (Goya Awards).
As the longest-running short film festival in Los Angeles, LA Shorts showcases over 350 films each year and attracts more than 10,000 attendees, including Hollywood industry professionals and emerging independent filmmakers.
