‘Systematic Racism’: Iran Blasts U.S. Over Mass Arrest of Its Nationals

According to SAEDNEWS, The Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the recent mass arrest of Iranian nationals residing in the United States, calling the move a clear sign of “systemic racism” in the U.S. administration.

Alireza Hashemi-Raja, Director General for Iranian Expatriates Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, said the detentions, accompanied by inhumane treatment, were illegitimate and violated international legal norms.

He linked the arrests to Washington’s support for the Israeli regime’s military aggression against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“We have not received any convincing explanation regarding the reasons for these arrests despite initial consular follow-ups,” he said.

Rejecting the repressive and discriminatory conduct toward Iranian nationals, he demanded that U.S. authorities respect their basic rights, disclose the detainees’ identities, and immediately facilitate consular access so Iran can provide necessary assistance.

Emphasizing Tehran’s unwavering support for the rights of its citizens abroad, Hashemi-Raja said Iran would take all necessary measures to safeguard its nationals from the consequences of the U.S. administration’s discriminatory policies.

He added that any detained Iranian who wishes to return to their homeland will receive full support and assistance from the Iranian administration.

In recent weeks, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has ramped up targeted operations against Iranian nationals, detaining over 100 people, citing vague security concerns and alleged sleeper‑cell activity after U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
