Iran Calls on France to Respect Human Rights in Handling Protests

According to Saednews, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei criticized French officials for describing the Iranian security forces’ confrontation with armed and trained terrorists backed by the Zionist regime as a human rights violation, while allegedly showing little tolerance for even minor acts of violence against police during peaceful gatherings and responding to protesters with severe measures.

At the same time, Baghaei stressed that demonstrators should avoid violence, refrain from damaging public or private property, and not attack law enforcement personnel.

Citing reports from French news agencies that more than 2,000 protesters had been arrested and allegedly beaten by police, Baghaei called for an investigation into allegations that security forces had used excessive force against demonstrators.
