According to Saednews, Ilam is a land of greenery, mountains, and natural beauty. This mountainous region, with its unique landscapes, mild climate, and traditional customs of Iran’s Kurdish communities, has become one of the country’s popular destinations for travelers.

If your journey takes you to Ilam, be sure to explore Chardavol. Chardavol County is one of the counties of Ilam Province, located about 35 kilometers from Ilam city. Its administrative center is the city of Sarableh. Covering an area of approximately 2,236 square kilometers and home to around 82,000 people, Chardavol lies in the northeastern part of Ilam Province.

The county is bordered by Kermanshah Province to the north, Lorestan Province to the east, and Ilam County to the west and south. Most of the local population is Kurdish-speaking and speaks the Kalhori dialect. Chardavol consists of two main landscapes: mountainous areas and relatively level plains.

Where Is Chardavol?

The fifth volume of the Geographical Dictionary of Iran states that the drinking water of the rural district is supplied by springs and rivers. Its main agricultural products include wheat, barley, legumes, rice, and dairy products. The principal occupations of the inhabitants are farming and livestock herding, while traditional women's handicrafts include weaving black tents and a type of white shawl used as part of men's clothing. During winter, some residents of the rural district traditionally migrate toward the warmer regions of Ney-Khezal near the Iraqi border.
