SAEDNEWS: Among the popular tourist destinations of East Azerbaijan Province, the Kani Garavan Spring stands out as a remarkable natural site that has gained great popularity among local residents and visitors of the region.
According to Saednews, West Azerbaijan Province is home to many counties, one of which is Sardasht. This county is located in a mountainous region and consists of various volcanic and limestone mountains. Sardasht has a moderate climate, with cold, dry winters and cool summers. The annual rainfall in the area is approximately 890 millimeters, indicating its strong ecological potential for the development of pastures, forests, and rain-fed agricultural lands.
The main water resources of the region are formed by its major rivers, including Vazina and Rab, along with their tributaries such as Sura Cham, Cham Vazina, Cham Ghazan, Gol Qapu, Barda Rash, Choman, and others. Located about 2 kilometers from Rabat City, this spring offers a unique natural view. It is truly one of the rarest geological formations of its kind, with very few similar examples found elsewhere.
Kani Garavan is considered one of the rich mineral springs of the region, with dissolved minerals exceeding one gram per liter. However, its water is highly salty and is not suitable for drinking. The spring is located near a village called Kani Goyz, in the southeastern part of the Zab River basin.
The spring has many therapeutic properties and is classified as a carbonated mineral spring. Its mineral-rich water is traditionally used in areas related to skin care and beauty treatments.
The spring is located on a hill and emerges naturally from underground. Chemical reactions occurring within the spring have created a unique cone-shaped formation around it. This structure continues to grow in height every year, creating a remarkable natural scene.
Made primarily of limestone, this geological formation reaches approximately 20 meters in height and extends about 30 meters in length. Over time, its shape has gradually changed due to continuous mineral deposits.
One fascinating feature of this hill is that it appears different from every angle, adding to its visual appeal. At the base of the site, the Hormozabad River flows through the area, contributing to the surrounding greenery and creating a breathtaking landscape rarely seen elsewhere. After passing through the plain, this river eventually joins the Zab River.
