SAEDNEWS: The pastrami sandwich is one of the classic and best-selling items found on restaurant menus around the world. The word “pastrami” literally refers to smoked and seasoned meat.
According to Saednews, When it comes to pastrami, people usually either love it or dislike it. For many, the unique aroma, flavor, and character of this sandwich can be difficult to resist. Pastrami is traditionally made from beef. It is a cured meat seasoned with salt and spices, somewhat similar to smoked ham, then fully cooked and prepared for serving.
This warm sandwich is typically served on traditional rye bread. To make a homemade hot pastrami sandwich, the first step is gathering all the necessary ingredients. Once the pastrami is heated, the preparation process moves very quickly.
225 grams of pastrami (smoked beef)
2 slices of rye bread
4 slices of Swiss cheese
1 tablespoon mustard sauce
½ tablespoon butter
4 slices of tomato
2 lettuce leaves
¼ cup mixed cabbage (green and purple cabbage with carrots)
¼ cup coleslaw
1 sliced pickle
The first step in preparing your sandwich is heating the sliced pastrami. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Next, create a small foil pouch for the pastrami. It does not need to have any special shape or design. The foil simply works as a container to help warm the meat evenly.
Place the sliced pastrami inside the foil pouch and heat it in the oven for about 10 minutes.
While the pastrami is warming, toast the two slices of rye bread in a toaster or oven. You can also toast them in a pan on the stovetop. Prepare and chop the vegetables for your homemade hot pastrami sandwich.
While the pastrami is heating, it is a good time to prepare the remaining ingredients. Slice one tomato into thin pieces, making sure you have at least four slices for your sandwich.
Slice the pickles into thin pieces as well. Cut large lettuce leaves into smaller pieces so they are easier to handle when assembling the sandwich.
Once the vegetables are prepared and the pastrami is warm, you are ready to assemble your sandwich.
Place the two toasted rye bread slices on a flat surface, such as a cutting board or kitchen counter.
Spread softened butter over each slice of bread. Then spread mustard sauce on one side. Stone-ground mustard has a slightly stronger flavor than traditional mustard or Dijon mustard and pairs very well with pastrami.
Add green lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and chopped pickles on top of the mustard layer.
After adding the vegetables and condiments, it is time to add the main ingredients: pastrami and cheese.
Place the warm pastrami slices over the vegetables. Adding extra meat will only make the sandwich richer and more flavorful, depending on your preferred sandwich size.

Top the pastrami with four slices of Swiss cheese, then add the coleslaw. Once all the ingredients are arranged, place the second slice of toasted rye bread on top.
Press the sandwich gently so that all the ingredients hold together. Secure it with a toothpick if needed, and serve this delicious pastrami sandwich with a side salad or potato chips.
