Pineapple Juice: A Delicious and Beneficial Summer Drink

According to SAEDNEWS, Pineapple is one of the most flavorful tropical fruits and has become well accepted by Iranian tastes. This fruit is consumed in various forms, including fresh, canned, as a smoothie, and as juice.

Pineapple juice is rich in antioxidants that help eliminate damage caused by free radicals in the body and may protect against problems such as premature aging and cancer.

The anti-inflammatory properties of pineapple juice are mainly attributed to the enzyme bromelain, which is found in much higher concentrations in the central stem of the pineapple than in the fruit itself. Therefore, when preparing pineapple juice, it is recommended to include the inner stem in the juicer or add its puree to the juice.

Bromelain is also used to accelerate the healing process of wounds caused by diabetes and surgical procedures.

Health Benefits of Pineapple Juice

Pineapple juice, especially when prepared with the central stem included, contains the enzyme bromelain, which has protein-digesting and anti-inflammatory properties.

On the other hand, pineapple juice is a rich source of antioxidants, vitamin C, beta-carotene, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and manganese, all of which play important roles in supporting and strengthening the immune system.

Pineapple juice may be beneficial for managing blood pressure, relieving arthritis pain, promoting body rejuvenation, improving colitis symptoms, reducing menstrual pain, stimulating ovulation, supporting kidney health, accelerating wound healing, strengthening bones, enhancing immune function, maintaining heart health, preventing cancer, improving skin health, relieving coughs, supporting sinus health, and assisting with weight management.

Lowering Blood Pressure with Pineapple Juice

Pineapple juice contains a significant amount of potassium and can also help reduce sodium levels in the body. This combination of effects may contribute to better blood pressure regulation and support cardiovascular health.

Reducing Arthritis Pain with Pineapple Juice

The bromelain found in pineapple juice has anti-inflammatory properties and may help relieve arthritis and rheumatism symptoms, particularly in areas such as the shoulders and neck.

Treating Colitis with Pineapple Juice

Bromelain can reduce the production of leukocytes and cytokines, which are inflammatory mediators in the body. By helping decrease intestinal inflammation, bromelain may have beneficial effects in supporting the management of colitis.

Relieving Menstrual Pain with Pineapple Juice

Menstrual cramps and uterine contractions are associated with a chemical compound called prostaglandin. Bromelain may help reduce levels of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), an enzyme-related mediator involved in uterine contractions and menstrual pain. Additionally, pineapple juice contains magnesium, which may help alleviate lower back pain and reduce premenstrual discomfort and dysmenorrhea. One cup of pineapple can provide approximately 73% of the body’s daily magnesium requirement.

Strengthening Bones with Pineapple Juice

Manganese is an essential mineral that plays a significant role in maintaining strong bones. Since pineapple juice contains a high amount of manganese, it may contribute to bone strengthening, support healthy bone development during adulthood, and help reduce the risk of osteoporosis in later life.

Strengthening the Immune System with Pineapple Juice

Pineapple contains high levels of vitamin C and carotenoids. These two antioxidants help repair damage caused by free radicals in the body and contribute to strengthening the immune system.

Improving Heart Health with Pineapple Juice

Pineapple juice may support better blood circulation. Bromelain helps thin the blood, prevents the formation of blood clots, and may reduce the buildup of deposits on artery walls, thereby lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including stroke.

Preventing Cancer with Pineapple Juice

Pineapple juice contains antioxidants that may help protect against cancer by combating free radicals and supporting the body’s defense mechanisms against cancerous cells. The enzyme bromelain may also contribute to slowing down or inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.

In addition, the immune-boosting effects of pineapple juice mentioned above may help strengthen the body’s natural defenses against cancer development.

Treating Cancer with Pineapple Juice

According to Professor Chen Huairen from the General Hospital of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in Beijing, hot pineapple juice may have the ability to destroy cancer cells.

For this purpose, 2–3 thin slices of pineapple can be added to a glass of hot water. This beverage is believed to have an alkaline effect and may be suitable for many individuals.

Hot pineapple juice has been suggested to help eliminate cysts and tumors, remove harmful microbes and toxins from the body, and improve allergic conditions.
