SAEDNEWS: MedPath, an international platform specializing in medical information, clinical trials, and health technologies, has published a report highlighting the development and approval of WhartoCell, a cell therapy product developed by the Royan Institute.
According to Saednews, WhartoCell is presented as an allogeneic, off-the-shelf cell-based therapeutic product derived from umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). The product has been developed as part of efforts to advance innovative cell therapy approaches for the treatment of joint disorders and osteoarthritis.

He further noted that, over more than three decades of activity, Royan Institute has developed into one of Iran’s major centers in reproductive medicine, stem cell science, regenerative medicine, and biotechnology. According to Lotfipanah, the institute has pursued an integrated continuum of “research, technology, and service delivery,” linking these areas as interconnected stages in the development of scientific and medical applications.
