Saed News: China’s Ambassador To The United Nations Criticized The Proposed U.S. And Bahrain Resolution On The Strait Of Hormuz
According to SAEDNEWS, China’s ambassador to the United Nations criticized the draft resolution proposed by the United States and Bahrain on the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that both its content and timing are inappropriate and that its adoption would not be helpful.
Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said on Friday that the draft resolution proposed by the United States and Bahrain regarding the Strait of Hormuz is neither appropriate in content nor in timing, and its adoption would not help resolve the issue.
He said: “We do not think the content of this draft resolution is correct, and its timing is also inappropriate.”
He added: “What we need is to encourage both sides to enter serious and good-faith negotiations to resolve this issue. Therefore, we do not believe that passing a resolution at this stage would be useful.”
He also stated that if the decision were up to China—as the current rotating president of the 15-member Security Council—it would not have even put the resolution to a vote.
According to Reuters, diplomats said that if the resolution is put to a vote, it would likely face a veto from Russia and China.
