SAEDNEWS: Political and expert-level negotiations between Iran and the United States are still ongoing at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, with the participation of the Pakistani side, after nearly three hours of discussions.
According to the political desk of Saed News Agency, ISNA reported that negotiations between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan, began on Saturday morning following separate meetings between Pakistan’s Prime Minister and the heads of the negotiating delegations from both sides.
After bilateral discussions between Shehbaz Sharif and the Iranian and American negotiating teams, along with the exchange of essential messages, technical and political negotiations officially commenced at 18:30 local time and are still ongoing. The talks initially started at the political level and were later followed by expert-level discussions in various fields, particularly economic sectors.
The negotiations are being held behind closed doors without the release of any images. However, some Pakistani sources told media outlets that the talks are proceeding both directly and indirectly in the presence of the Pakistani side.
It remains unclear whether the discussions will conclude tonight or be extended for one or more additional days.
Meanwhile, Iran’s state broadcaster reported that another round of negotiations may take place later tonight or tomorrow.
CNN also stated that the talks between Iran and the United States are expected to continue late into the night and may even extend into Sunday. It added that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir are present in the negotiation room.
