SAEDNEWS: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has termed the United States move to hold United Nations Security Council (UNSC) emergency meeting regarding unrests in Iran as “escape forward.”
According to SAEDNEWS, During a telephone call with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres late on Thursday, Araghchi emphasized that the direct role of the Zionist regime in arming and organizing the terrorists and the US support from them was obvious in recent unrests in Iran.
He added that heinous crimes committed against law enforcement forces and ordinary people in the country, killing of children and women, burning individuals alive, attacking hospitals and health centers, setting many ambulances and fire engines into fire, destroying mosques and cultural centers reminded us of the atrocities committed by the Daesh (ISIS).
The top diplomat called on the United Nations to condemn these crimes, noting that the US move to hold the UNSC meeting under the pretext of dealing with Iran’s internal affairs is scape forward.
Araghchi pointed out that the US administration is responsible for the killing of thousands of Iranian citizens by imposing sanctions and complicity with the Israeli regime on June military aggression against Iran.
During the recent unrest in Iran, the US administration also has killed hundreds of Iranians by armed terrorists, so Washington can not cover-up its crimes by holding the UNSC meeting, he noted.
The top Iranian diplomat added that the parties who have a long history of systematic violations of human rights and are complicit with the Zionist regime in genocide of the Palestinians do not have any credibility to pretend to have sympathy for the Iranian people.
For his part, Guterres also rejected any intervention in the internal affairs of other countries, including military intervention, stressing the importance of respecting the fundamental rights of human rights by all countries.
He emphasized the necessity of respecting the principles of the UN Charter, especially the principle of prohibiting threats or resorting to force.
