According to Saednews, In many prayers, Muslims recite a Qunoot supplication—a prayer asking Allah for goodness, guidance, forgiveness, protection, and blessings in this world and the Hereafter. Although “Rabbana Atina” is one of the best-known supplications used in Qunoot, it is not the only one. Various other supplications have been attributed to the Prophet Muhammad, the Imams, and other members of the Ahl al-Bayt and are traditionally recited for different occasions.
Below are some well-known Qur’anic and traditional supplications that may be recited in Qunoot during daily prayers, recommended prayers, prayers for personal needs, and special occasions.
There is no single Qur’anic verse designated exclusively as the Qunoot prayer. Therefore, several Qur’anic supplications can be recited in Qunoot, whether in the morning, afternoon, evening, obligatory, or recommended prayers.
رَبَّنا آتِنا فِی الدُّنْیا حَسَنَهً وَ فِی الْآخِرَهِ حَسَنَهً وَ قِنا عَذابَ النَّارِ
“Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
(Qur’an, Al-Baqarah 2:201)
رَبَّنا لا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَیتَنا وَ هَبْ لَنا مِنْ لَدُنْک رَحْمَهً إِنَّک أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Surely, You are the Ever-Giving.”
(Qur’an, Al ‘Imran 3:8)
رَبَّنا إِنَّنا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنا ذُنُوبَنا وَ قِنا عَذابَ النَّارِ
“Our Lord, we have truly believed, so forgive our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
(Qur’an, Al ‘Imran 3:16)
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لی وَ لِوالِدَی وَ لِلْمُؤْمِنینَ یوْمَ یقُومُ الْحِسابُ
“Our Lord, forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day when the reckoning is established.”
(Qur’an, Ibrahim 14:41)
رَبَّنا ظَلَمْنا أَنْفُسَنا وَ إِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنا وَ تَرْحَمْنا لَنَکونَنَّ مِنَ الْخاسِرینَ
“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”
(Qur’an, Al-A‘raf 7:23)
رَبّ اجْعَلْنی مُقِیمَ الصَّلَوهِ وَ مِن ذُرِّیتی رَبَّنَا وَ تَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
“My Lord, make me steadfast in prayer, and [make] some of my descendants [steadfast as well]. Our Lord, accept my supplication.”
(Qur’an, Ibrahim 14:40)
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنی أَنْ أَشْکرَ نِعْمَتَک الَّتی أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَی وَ عَلی والِدَی وَ أَنْ أَعْمَلَ صالِحاً تَرْضاهُ وَ أَدْخِلْنی بِرَحْمَتِک فی عِبادِک الصَّالِحین
“My Lord, inspire me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteousness that pleases You. And admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous servants.”
(Qur’an, An-Naml 27:19)
رَّبِّ أَدْخِلْنِی مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِی مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَل لِّی مِن لَّدُنکَ سُلْطَانًا نَّصِیرًا
“My Lord, let me enter with truth and let me leave with truth, and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.”
(Qur’an, Al-Isra 17:80)
One particularly meaningful Qur’anic supplication associated in popular religious teaching with Imam Ali is found in Surah Al-Furqan, verse 74. It is short and relatively easy to memorize:
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَ ذُرِّیَّاتِنَا قُرَّهَ أَعْیُنٍ وَ اجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِینَ إِمَامًا
“Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and offspring comfort to our eyes, and make us an example for the righteous.”
(Qur’an, Al-Furqan 25:74)
A supplication attributed to Imam Ali al-Rida for the protection and support of Imam al-Mahdi is reported as follows:
اللَّهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ عَبْدَکَ وَ خَلِیفَتَکَ
بِمَا أَصْلَحْتَ بِهِ أَنْبِیَاءَکَ وَ رُسُلَکَ
وَ حُفَّهُ بِمَلَائِکَتِکَ وَ أَیِّدْهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ مِنْ عِنْدِکَ
وَ اسْلُکْهُ مِنْ بَیْنِ یَدَیْهِ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ رَصَداً یَحْفَظُونَهُ مِنْ کُلِّ سُوءٍ
وَ أَبْدِلْهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِ أَمْناً یَعْبُدُکَ لَا یُشْرِکُ بِکَ شَیْئاً
وَ لَا تَجْعَلْ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ خَلْقِکَ عَلَی وَلِیِّکَ سُلْطَاناً
وَ أْذَنْ لَهُ فِی جِهَادِ عَدُوِّکَ وَ عَدُوِّهِ
وَ اجْعَلْنِی مِنْ أَنْصَارِهِ إِنَّکَ عَلَی کُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیرٌ
“O Allah, set right Your servant and Your vicegerent in the same way that You set right Your prophets and messengers. Surround him with Your angels and strengthen him with the Holy Spirit from You. Place watchful guardians before him and behind him to protect him from every evil. Replace his fear with security so that he may worship You without associating anything with You. Do not give any of Your creation authority over Your chosen servant. Permit him to strive against Your enemy and his enemy, and make me among his supporters. Surely, You have power over all things.”

A Qunoot supplication attributed to Imam Husayn is recorded in works such as Mafatih al-Jinan and Muhaj al-Da‘awat:
اَللّهُمَّ مَنْ اَوی اِلی مَاْویً فَاَنْتَ مَاْوایَ وَ مَنْ لَجَاءَ اِلی مَلْجَاءٍ فَاَنْتَ مَلْجَاْی
اَللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاسْمَعْ نِدائی وَ اَجِبْ دُعائی وَاجْعَلْ مَآبی عِنْدَکَ وَ مَثْوایَ
وَاحْرُسْنی فی بَلْوایَ مِنِ افْتِتانِ الاِمْتِحانِ وَ لَمَّهِ الشَّیْطانِ بِعَظَمَتِکَ الَّتی لا یَشُوبُها وَلَعُ نَفْسٍ بِتَفْتینٍ
وَ لا وارِدُ طَیْفٍ بِتَظْنینِ وَلا یَلُمُّ بِها فَرَحٌ حَتّی تَقْلِبَنی اِلَیْکَ بِاِرادَتِکَ غَیْرَ ظَنینٍ وَلامَظْنُونٍ
وَلا مُرابٍ وَ لا مُرْتابٍ اِنَّکَ اَرْحَمُ الرّاحِمینَ
“O Allah, whoever seeks refuge in a place of refuge, You are my refuge; and whoever turns to a sanctuary, You are my sanctuary.
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. Hear my call, answer my supplication, and make my return and my dwelling with You.
Protect me in my trial from the temptation of testing and from the approach of Satan, by Your greatness—a greatness untouched by the desires of a soul seeking to mislead, nor by passing thoughts that give rise to suspicion.
Do not let happiness come upon me until, by Your will, You bring me back to You without doubt, suspicion, hesitation, or uncertainty. Surely, You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”
لا إله إلّا اللَّه الحلیم الکریم، لا إله إلّا اللَّه العلیّ العظیم، سبحان اللَّه ربّ السّموات السّبع و ربّ الأرضین السّبع و ما فیهنّ و ما بینهنّ وَ مَا فَوْقَهُنَّ وَ مَا تَحْتَهُنَّ، وَ رَبّ العرش العظیم، وَ سَلامٌ عَلَی الْمُرْسَلِینَ، وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمِینَ
“There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. There is no god but Allah, the Most High, the Most Great. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the seven earths and all that is within them, between them, above them, and beneath them, and Lord of the Mighty Throne. Peace be upon the messengers, and praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.”

It is reported that the Prophet Muhammad recited the well-known “Allahumma Ihdini Fiman Hadayt” supplication during the Qunoot of the Witr prayer.
اَللّهُمَّ اهْدِنی فیمَنْ هَدَیْتَ، وَ عافِنی فیمَنْ عافَیْتَ، وَ تَوَلَّنی فیمَنْ تَوَلَّیْتَ، وَ بارِکْ لی فیما أَعْطَیْتَ، وَ قِنی شَرَّ ما قَضَیْتَ، إِنَّکَ تَقْضی وَ لا یُقْضی عَلَیْکَ، سُبْحانَکَ رَبَّ الْبَیْتِ، أَسْتَغْفِرُکَ وَ أَتُوبُ إِلَیْکَ وَ أُؤْمِنُ بِکَ وَ أَتَوَکَّلُ عَلَیْکَ، وَ لا حَوْلَ وَ لا قُوَّهَ إِلّا بِکَ یا رَحیمُ
“O Allah, guide me among those whom You have guided, grant me well-being among those whom You have granted well-being, take charge of me among those of whom You have taken charge, and bless me in what You have given me. Protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. Surely, You decree, and no one can decree against You. Glory be to You, Lord of the House. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance. I believe in You and place my trust in You. There is no power or strength except through You, O Most Merciful.”

The well-known supplication beginning with “Ilahi ‘Azuma al-Bala’” is also traditionally mentioned among supplications that may be recited in Qunoot, particularly on Friday.
It begins:
اِلهیِ عَظُمَ البَلاءُ وَ بَرِحَ الخَفَاءُ وَ انکَشَفَ الغِطَاءُ…
This supplication is traditionally associated with Imam al-Mahdi and is presented in sources such as Wasa'il al-Shi‘a and Mafatih al-Jinan.
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ کمَا هَدَیتَنَا بِهِ، اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَی مُحَمَّدٍ کمَا أَکرَمْتَنَا بِهِ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا مِمَّنِ اخْتَرْتَ لِدِینِکَ وَ خَلَقْتَهُ لِجَنَّتِکَ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَیتَنَا وَ هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْکَ رَحْمَهً إِنَّکَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
“O Allah, bless Muhammad as You guided us through him. O Allah, bless Muhammad as You honored us through him. O Allah, make us among those whom You have chosen for Your religion and created for Your Paradise. O Allah, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Surely, You are the Ever-Giving.”
(Wasa'il al-Shi‘a, vol. 6, p. 274)
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّی أَسْأَلُکَ مِنْ کلِّ خَیرٍ أَحَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُکَ وَ أَعُوذُ بِکَ مِنْ کلِّ سُوءٍ أَحَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُکَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّی أَسْأَلُکَ عَافِیتَکَ فِی أُمُورِی کلِّهَا وَ أَعُوذُ بِکَ مِنْ خِزْی الدُّنْیا وَ عَذَابِ الْآخِرَهِ
“O Allah, I ask You for every good encompassed by Your knowledge, and I seek refuge in You from every evil encompassed by Your knowledge. O Allah, I ask You for well-being in all my affairs, and I seek refuge in You from disgrace in this world and punishment in the Hereafter.”
(Al-Kafi, vol. 2, p. 578)
The following supplication is traditionally recited in the Qunoot of the Eid al-Fitr prayer:
اَللّهُمَّ اَهْلَ الْکبْرِیاءِ وَالْعَظَمَهِ وَ اَهْلَ الْجوُدِ وَالْجَبَروُتِ
وَاَهْلَ الْعَفْوِ وَالرَّحْمَهِ وَ اَهْلَ التَّقْوی وَالْمَغْفِرَهِ اَسْألُکَ بِحَقِّ هَذَا الْیوْمِ
الَّذی جَعَلْتَهُ لِلْمُسْلِمینَ عیداً وَ لِمـُحَمَّدٍ صلی الله علیه وآله
ذُخراً وَشَرَفاً وَ کَرامَهً وَمَزیداً أَنْ تُصَلِّیَ عَلی مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
وَ اَنْ تُدْخِلَنی فی کُلِّ خَیرٍ أَدْخَلْتَ فیهِ مُحَمَّداً وَآلَ مُحَمَّدٍ
وَ أَنْ تُخْرِجَنی مِنْ کُلِّ سوُءٍ أَخْرَجْتَ مِنْهُ مُحَمَّداً وَ آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ
صَلَواتُکَ عَلَیهِ وَ عَلَیهِمْ اَللّهُمَّ إنّی أَسْألُکَ خَیرَ ما سَألَکَ بِهِ
عِبَادُکَ الصَّالِحوُنَ وَ أَعوُذُ بِکَ مِمَّا اسْتَعَاذَ مِنْهُ عِبَادُکَ الْمُخْلَصوُنَ
“O Allah, Lord of greatness and majesty, Lord of generosity and might, Lord of pardon and mercy, and Lord of piety and forgiveness, I ask You by the honor of this day, which You have made a festival for Muslims and a source of honor, dignity, and distinction for Muhammad and his family, to bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
Grant me every good that You granted Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and keep me away from every evil from which You kept Muhammad and the family of Muhammad away. May Your blessings be upon him and them.
O Allah, I ask You for the best of what Your righteous servants have asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from what Your sincere servants have sought refuge from.”

Hadiths About Qunoot
Qunoot is traditionally performed in the second rak‘ah of prayers, and in Shi‘a tradition it is regarded as a strongly recommended practice.
Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq is reported to have said that every obligatory and recommended prayer has Qunoot and that deliberately abandoning it out of disregard makes the prayer incomplete.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir is also reported to have said that if someone forgets Qunoot, they may perform it later, even while traveling, by facing the Qiblah. He emphasized that he disliked seeing anyone turn away from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.
The Prophet Muhammad is also reported to have said that the longer a person's Qunoot is in this world, the longer their comfort will be in the Hereafter.
Other narrations mention that the Qunoot of Friday prayer may include praise of Allah, blessings upon the Prophet and his Ahl al-Bayt, and a prayer for relief. Another narration attributed to Imam al-Sadiq recommends supplication during the Qunoot of obligatory prayers and seeking forgiveness during the Witr prayer of the night prayer.
Overall, Qunoot provides an opportunity to turn sincerely toward Allah, ask for forgiveness and guidance, seek protection from hardship, and pray for blessings in both this life and the Hereafter.
