Saed News: American media report that Donald Trump has revised the proposed framework of a deal with Iran and sent the updated version to Tehran through diplomatic channels.
According to SAEDNEWS, citing Al Jazeera, the New York Times reported that Trump has tightened the terms of a potential framework agreement with Iran and sent revised proposals to Tehran.
Unnamed US officials told the newspaper that Trump had concerns about certain clauses of the agreement, including issues related to the release of Iranian financial assets.
A US official also told the New York Times that Trump was dissatisfied with the delay in Iran’s response to Washington’s proposals.
Several US officials said the aim of the recent revisions is to advance a draft framework that has been presented to senior Iranian officials for review.
The unnamed officials further stated that the amendments were developed with the participation of several mediating countries, including Pakistan.
Another source told the New York Times that the proposed framework includes ending hostilities in exchange for Iran ending the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
The source added that key disputed issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, would be postponed to later rounds of negotiations.
In this regard, Axios also reported, citing US officials, that Trump has emphasized the conditions of the possible agreement framework and has sent amendments to Iran.
A US official told Axios that Trump is personally interested in issues related to Iran’s nuclear materials.
The official added that Trump last Friday requested revisions to a draft agreement that his representatives had prepared with the Iranian side.
He said the US president has asked for more details regarding the transfer or management of Iran’s enriched uranium.
He further stated that Trump is seeking revisions to clauses related to reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and these recent requests have triggered a new round of document exchanges between Washington and Tehran.
The official also said that reaching a deal with Iran is possible, but the timeline remains uncertain.
He added that the US administration hopes to see progress on Iran by early next week.
A White House official also told Axios that Washington is willing to wait a week or more to achieve a favorable outcome.
